Transitive verb: 部屋を散らす, ごみを散らす, 花びらを散らす. The intransitive verb is 散る. Often seen in compounds V-散らす such as 食べ散らす; 散らかす is close in meaning but stresses making a mess.

子どもがおもちゃを部屋中に散らした。The child scattered his toys all over the room.
強い風が桜の花を散らした。The strong wind scattered the cherry blossoms.
