すれ違う（すれちがう）

to pass each other; to miss each other

Intransitive verb: 道で人とすれ違う; figuratively 二人の気持ちがすれ違う, 話がすれ違う (to be at cross purposes). Different from 出会う (to meet) and 行き違う (to miss each other).
