Transitive verb, also written 役に立てる; the intransitive verb is 役立つ: 知識を仕事に役立てる. Close to 活用する and 生かす.

Examples

学んだ知識を実際の仕事に役立てたい。I want to put the knowledge I've learned to use in actual work.
寄付金は災害の復興に役立てられる。The donations will be used for disaster recovery.
