Structure: V-る／V-ない＋といいなあ／V-たら＋いいなあ／V-ば＋いいなあ

Expresses the speaker's hope or wish, usually about something uncertain or unlikely to happen. Can be replaced with 〜たらいいなあ／〜ばいいなあ. It emphasizes the feeling of wishing and is not used to give advice.

Examples

もっと上手に日本語が話せたらいいなあ。I wish I could speak Japanese better.
明日、雨が降らないといいなあ。I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow.
