Ngăn không cho tiến lên hay thực hiện: 行く手を阻む, 雪に阻まれる. Dùng thể bị động khi bị vật cản lớn (thiên nhiên, kẻ phản đối). Dễ nhầm cách đọc với 拒む (こばむ), 囲む (かこむ), 絡む (からむ).
