〜かな

I wonder ~; I hope

Structure: V-る／V-ない＋かな（かなあ）

A casual sentence-final particle for both men and women, used to wonder to oneself (I wonder if ~) or to express a wish (〜ないかな = I hope ~). It is the casual form of かしら/だろうか. Not used toward superiors.

Examples

バス、早く来ないかな。I wish the bus would hurry up and come.
この実験、うまくいくかな。I wonder if this experiment will go well.
今日、富士山が見えるかなあ。I wonder if we'll be able to see Mt. Fuji today.
