〜んだって

I hear that; apparently

Structure: 普通形＋んだって

The casual form of んですって／ということだ, used to relay information heard in casual conversation. It can also be used with rising intonation to ask again about what someone just said. Not used in writing.

Examples

「田中さん、結婚してるんだって」「へー、知らなかった」"I hear Mr. Tanaka is married." "Oh, I didn't know that."
試験の範囲は、教科書の最初から50ページまでだって。I hear the scope of the test is from the start of the textbook to page 50.
